Now anyone can check one’s CRIB report online through the CRIB website, www.crib.lk. The Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka also termed as CRIB, maintains a database of credit information provided by all the authorised lending institutions in the country. Uniquely, a CRIB report, therefore, gives details of all credit facilities availed by an individual or corporate entity from any of the authorized lending institutions.

What is a CRIB report online in Sri Lanka?

The Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB), is the first credit bureau in the South Asian region. It was established by the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka Act No. 18 of 1990, as amended by Act No. 8 of 1995 and Act No. 42 of 2008. The CRIB report online is an initiative of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Finance.

Why have a good credit record as an individual?

The Bureau commenced issuing Self-Inquiry Credit Reports (iReport) in December 2009. Thankfully, now you can request a copy of your iReport or corporate iReport from the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka. The bureau has made getting a CRIB report online very easy and affordable. Certainly, having a good record with regards to the credit you have obtained leads to you having good bargaining power when obtaining a loan like a housing loan, credit card, or vehicle lease.

What does the CRIB do with your credit information?

  • Collect and compile credit and financial information on lending institution borrowers and prospective borrowers;
  • Provide credit information on request to shareholder lending institutions and simultaneously to borrowers to whom such information relates and instil credit discipline in the financial sector.
  • In addition to the credit information reports, the bureau provides various value-added services to banks and approved financial institutions.

How do you obtain the self-Inquiry Credit Report (iReport) and CRIB Score Report – Individual?

STEP 1

First, you have to log into the CRIB website www.crib.lk and click on iReport online.

Once you click on online as shown above you will be directed to the below interface.

To obtain your reports, you need to fill in the below information. For fields that are marked with red stars, you need to fill in your data accurately. Also, you need to verify the mobile number given and the email provided by you. Then you need to select the preferred language.

Here, you need to clearly scan your identity card on both sides and upload it as instructed. The front side first, followed by the rear side. Lastly, you need to upload the bank payment slip as well. Also, please click on the ANNEXURE to obtain details of the bank account into which you need to deposit the money.

What are the types of CRIB report online you can obtain as an individual?

  • iReport only – Cost Rs 150/= and Both iReport and CRIB Score report – Cost Rs 300/=

STEP 5

Click ok to the Declaration by the Applicant and Press submit button.

STEP 6

Once you click the Submit button, you will receive a reference number to your designated email mentioned in the form. Contact the Bureau Office during business hours of 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. to get your convenient time for the video call with the Application Reference Number that you will receive in your email once you submit this Online iReport Application Form. Since the verification is done through a video call, you should have access to the Google MEET Application (App) in order to conduct a video call with the CRIB Officer. (Verification is done by a CRIB Officer through Google Meet Video Call).

 How long will it take to obtain your CRIB report online?

Generally, once you have completed the Google Meet video call, it will take approximately two working days to receive your CRIB report online.
